Thank you for choosing me to paint your portrait! Your trust in my talents is appreciated and I am honored to be selected to capture your _loved one_on canvas.
Portraiture is a unique art, combining a strong likeness of an individual with a fine work of art. The goal of portraiture is to create a work of art that captures a moment in time, a fleeting chapter in life, but most importantly, the character and spirit of that person. It is important that the portrait be pleasing to the eye, a work of art that will stand the test of time and give you and your family great pleasure for years to come. It will become an heirloom to be passed on from generation to generation, providing a tangible, physical link between generations as well as a means of remembering a special time of life.
What to Expect
In painting your portrait, I will begin by meeting with you, the client, to discuss your portrait. This can be accomplished either in person or over the phone. We will cover such areas as your desires for the painting, its size, , choice of clothing, lighting, mood, price and any other concerns you might have. While there, I will make a detailed sketch of the subject as, well as take extensive photographs. An important aspect of this meeting is to get to know the subject and establish a genuine sense of who they are and what it is that you especially wish to capture in the portrait. A deposit of 50% is due at this time. The sketches that I make at this meeting will become yours if you so desire. The portrait will most likely be done from these sketches, using the photographs for detail and accuracy, so they will be presented to you at the same time as the completed portrait. Once the preliminary sketch has been approved, your portrait will be completed in approximately 3 to 6 months. If it is a very large portrait of several people, it may take longer.
Once I have neared completion of the portrait you may expect to receive digital images of your painting for your approval. Once the portrait has been approved I will either deliver the painting to your home or have it shipped to you, along with the preliminary sketch..The remaining 50% of the price of the portrait is due upon delivery of the portrait.
Your total satisfaction is my goal, so should you need some minor adjustments at the time of delivery I would be happy to accommodate you.
