Career
Katherine Brown began painting portraits at the age of 12. She painted portraits professionally throughout high school and college, and had the first of many one woman shows in Westchester County, New York, by the time she was 21 years old. She continued painting portraits and exhibiting in New York and Boston before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, where she continued her career in portraiture. Eventually Katherine Brown began to include genre paintings, floral works, still lifes and figurative work in her repertoire, and began exhibiting these works at galleries in Washington, D.C., Boston, Boca Raton, Atlanta, St. Simons Island, and Dayton. In 2005 Katherine Brown's work became part of the permanent archives of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Her work is in collections worldwide, including Australia, Japan, Germany, Switzerland and across the United States. She has been the subject of newspaper and magazine articles, as well as having her work featured in various publications, including Veranda Magazine, Where Boston, Pittsburgh Magazine, Coastal Illustrated, and Southern Living Magazine. Currently Katherine Brown is represented by Anderson Fine Art, St. Simons Island, Georgia.; Flanders Art Gallery in Raleigh, North Carolina; Eclectic Art Gallery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.; and Simic Galleries in Carmel, California.
